Interior design for a master suite in Hong Kong
The client is at his early 40s and recently get married. Living in Mid-levels, an affluent residential area in Hong Kong, the couple wish their new suite to look upscale, luxury, and hotel-like.
The suite comprises a 200 square feet bedroom and a long ensuite bathroom. To start off the design of the bedroom, we incorporated a slat wooden divider to separate the sleeping zone from the entryway. By doing so, this prevents the door directly open up in line with the bed, and adds more privacy to the sleeping area. In the color palette, we use complimentary color in a scheme of grey, purple and beige. The color grey is considered to be conservative and cool, whereas purple is associated with royalty, elegance, and romance. On one side of the room, we featured the bedside wall with purplish grey shimmer wall cover with woven texture. Furthermore, we introduced velvet furnishing on window covers, master bed, and stool upholstery. Highlighted by pendant lightings in varying colors, we crafted an environment that is subtle, elegant and sophisticated. On the opposite side of the room, we incorporated a 55 inch TV on a sliding panel along the built-in closet, in meeting client’s desire to layback and watch Netflix before bed time. Furnished with beige fluted wall covering and black metal frame, the TV panel became a focal point on its own.
Next to the TV panel is a tinted glass door leading to the ensuite bathroom. This long bathroom is divided into 3 zones: i. a WC close to the bathroom entrance, ii. a long basin cabinet in the center, and iii. a wet room, with shower and bathtub, towards the end of the bathroom. The objective is to evenly distributed the space, making the bathroom looks less narrow. For color theme, we further enhanced our grey color scheme into the bathroom through supreme grey marble effect porcelain stoneware, tinted glass panels and cabinetries, black chrome sanitaries, and black nickel accessories. This material palette generates a sense of richness, and the hotel-like design is echoed throughout the entire suite.
