Interior design for a 3 bedroom residential flat resided in the countryside of Hong Kong

Resonating with the beautiful scenery in Sai Kung, Project Mori「 森 」, meaning “forest” in Japanese, stems from the desire to incorporate natural phenomena and the law of nature into this Japanese style flat.

Nothing is more calming and tranquil than the serenity of a forest. Through a combination of bamboo stem ceramics and wooden finishes, we curate the entryway as a secret trail and experience the aesthetic of nature.

Upon passing through the entryway, we enrich the design scheme in both living and dining area with two essential colours: olive green and earthy grey. Olive green is often associated with peace, harmony, and stability, while earthy grey represents calming and grounding. This colour palette reminds the expression of forest, soil, and leaves, and looks especially harmonious with wooden finishes.

The dining and living area strives a balance of simplicity and functionality through a natural flow of built-in cabinets.   The TV wall is outfitted with an extended wooden slat panel with exquisite craftmanship, giving the interior an effect of vastness and depth.

In the guest bathroom, the irregular sunken dots patterns on the wall gives a dynamic and pleasant touch to the quiet space. In the master bathroom, the red clay terracotta feature wall, travertine marble basin, together with the waterfall faucet, reminds the expressions of different natural elements.

The overall design conveys the sentiments associated with our Mother Earth.
